Art and vintage bikes on the wall, and in my opinion, the best coffee in Utrecht. I like to go here on my days off and start the day waking up with a cup of coffee and the newspaper.

This place has such a cosy atmosphere! There is a variety of little seats, great colours on the walls, friendly service and lots of plants. It’s your lounge room along the Oosterkade! It’s a perfect spot to sit with your laptop, and don’t forget to order a cinnamon bun!

My favourite for fabulous coffee, and breakfast in particular. It’s literally across the square from The Hunfeld, so it’s easy to just roll out of bed and start your day here. The great thing is that they serve breakfast all day, so even if you have a good sleep-in, you can still have breakfast when you wake up! And did someone say mimosas for breakfast?

It’s on the best square in Utrecht, right across from The Hunfeld, and it’s one of the best places in Utrecht, if you ask me. You can wake up with a Dirty Chai, fresh smoothies or delicious homemade rolls and pastries.

A cool spot in an underground wharf cellar along the canal. The tap tables are perfect for a night out with friends, but it’s also great for a dinner for two. There’s a DJ spinning tunes and a BBQ with burgers, chicken, steak or lobster to suit your taste buds. It’s always busy here, so do make a reservation before you go.

It’s not exactly in the city centre, but a fifteen-minute walk will get you to this Mediterranean tapas bar. Because of its location, it’s away from all the tourists and a place where you will meet the locals. The staff are super friendly and they serve the best sangria!

This awesome spot has only just opened and it’s where I spend my Friday nights. You can order practically anything at the bar, but I like to go for a local beer or a good whiskey. The best thing of all is that they have a pool table in the basement!

LOUIS HARTLOOPER

Tanne | Employee | The Hunfeld

Whether it’s summer or winter, Louis Hartlooper is always the perfect place to go. This former police station has been transformed into a cinema, café and restaurant. You can sit outside and enjoy a craft beer on the terrace on the bustling Ledig Erf, or inside in the café. Grab a movie after, and your night is set! Photo credits: Aimee Baars

My favourite gift shop ever. I always go here for gifts or greeting cards. But not just to spoil others, I go here all the time to buy things here for my own little palace too, especially all the way down in the basement… in the plant section, along the canal.
